But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” – John 11:4 NLT
Too often God seems to fall short of our expectations. This never happens because God is unable to fulfill our expectations. Instead, there are two reasons we are disappointed in God. First, we claim a promise that wasn’t made to us. Then, we blame God when He doesn’t fulfill a commitment He never made. Second, we don’t realize that God isn’t through working yet. There is more to the story.
Such was the case with Lazarus. Jesus said Lazarus’ sickness would not end in death. Yet, Lazarus died. On the surface, it would seem as if Jesus had not kept his word. But, Jesus never said Lazarus would not die. His claim was that death would not be the end. Death wasn’t the end of Lazarus’ story.
Just like Lazarus, God has more planned for you. Believe as Lazarus and his family did–that Jesus is the resurrection and the life–and death will not be the end of your story.
