Jesus said, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. – Luke 8:39 NIV
When people say, “Every person’s story matters to God,” they are absolutely right. But every person’s story matters to countless others, as well; including yours. The biggest reason you need to tell your story is because someone needs to hear it.
You need to tell your story because some people are much too familiar with your past. They cannot conceive that you are any different than the person they came to know so many years ago. They need to hear your story because it is the account of God’s incredible redeeming work inside you.
You need to tell your story because some people cannot imagine the person you once were. All they see is the work God has already completed. They think all the progress you have made has how you have always been. They need to see how far you have come.
You need to tell your story because every time you you do, you revisit your journey with God. You need to be reminded that you are not the person you once were, and are still in the process of realizing the person God has destined you to be.
Most of all, you need to tell your story because it’s not your story at all; it’s God’s. It’s the story of His work in His child for His purpose to His glory.
So, tell your story. It needs to be heard.
