When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself. – John 6:15 NLT
Jesus is never content to be less than your savior. You can be impressed by His miracles; He does not care. You can tell others about His wonderful glory; He is not impressed. You can credit Him as your greatest inspiration; He wants none of the credit.
No. If Jesus is not your savior, He will have nothing to do with you.
This is not to say that Jesus is not King–He certainly is. But He is not King because you or I make Him so. He is King because the Father crowned Him. He is King of His people, not because they chose Him to be King, but because they received Him as savior, and in doing so, recognize Him for what He already was.
To recognize Jesus as savior is to admit that you need saving. It is to concede your right to be right, and surrender your will to God’s. For, none of us is able to live whole lives without a savior.
Choose Jesus as your savior today. And tomorrow. And every day following. Then, He will be king.
