Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown. Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth. – John 1:44-45 NLT
John the Baptist told his disciple, Andrew about Jesus. At that moment, Andrew switched allegiances and began following Jesus. Andrew told Peter. Peter told Philip. Philip told Nathanael. In a matter of hours, Jesus went from no followers to four.
Here is the surprising thing: Jesus did not initiate the relationship with any of them. In every case, someone told someone else and Jesus took it from there.
There is someone in your world waiting for you to tell them about Jesus. You do not have to be a great evangelist, just a loyal friend. Telling people about Jesus is the most natural thing a Christian can do. We have made it so complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s as simple as, “I’ve met Jesus. You need to meet Him, too.” Then lead in the best way you can.
Here’s what’s amazing: when you do that, Jesus steps in and takes over. You don’t have to worry about the heavy lifting, Jesus does that. All you are responsible for is the introduction.
The only thing better than watching someone meet Jesus for the first time is being in the middle of it. So go, tell it!
