Discouragement, Anguish, and Sorrow

Discouragement, Anguish, and Sorrow

“I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.” – 1 Samuel‬ ‭1:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What do you do with your discouragement, anguish, and sorrow?

It takes more than a few disappointments to get to where Hannah was in her prayer. This state of emotional inner turmoil only comes after years of unfulfilled hopes and unanswered prayer. After desires are denied for so long, the temptation is great to just give up and lose yourself in a self-destructive lifestyle.

Yet, there is always room for one more prayer. God hears the prayer of desperation. He cares about the desperate person who prays. The beauty of the prayer of desperation is that it is an expression of unbreakable faith. It is the demonstration that now–even now–you believe that God listens.

So, take your anguish to God. He hears. He cares. Keep doing it until He acts.
